"I'm proud to declare June Pride Month and celebrate the countless contributions that the LGBTQ community has made to our state," said Governor Gina M. Raimondo. "As allies, we must continuously rededicate ourselves to the cause of equality. Pride Month serves as a reminder that Rhode Island is committed to treating people of all walks of life with respect and dignity. Our state was founded by Roger Williams on the notions of tolerance and freedom, and those values remain as important today as they were then. Regardless of your race, religion or who you love, there is a place in Rhode Island for everyone."
On Sunday at 6:15 p.m., Governor Raimondo will attend the Rainbow Flag Raising at Providence City Hall with Mayor Elorza to officially kick off Pride season.
